TITLE OF THE THESIS: Creating and Maintaining a Culture of Data Protection in Schools
OBJECTIVE OF THE PAPER: The objective of this paper is two-fold: Through the design science research methodologies employed, I am looking to analyze how awareness around this very important issue of data privacy and protection can be created. Many countries around the world are still very young in their understanding of the types of data collected and the way it is being used, while the individuals and organizations are miles away in the ways they can do harm in this area. Building on my experience as a Data Protection Officer, a member of an international network of such professionals for several years, my second objective is to propose a framework (the artifact in design science research) that schools can use to create and maintain a culture that supports data protection and privacy. PLANNED RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: To support the content of the current paper, via design science research phases, I am planning to use the following: Publications which offer research and case studies specifically around data usage in school environments. Case studies from my own experience working with data in schools. Surveys – attitudes around data protection in schools. Expert interviews – conducted in large schools
