What to do/Purpose. For this project, you will select ONE issue/topic in your discipline and critically analyze that issue/topic along with various viewpoints (from the sources you research and gather for this project). *Sources are attached in the uploaded files section.
The purpose of this project is to investigate a current issue/topic in your discipline and fully understand its origins (how it began), opinions (viewpoints expressed/sides), and implications (effects on the field/people/etc.). This project is meant to hone your research and annotation skills as well as prepare you to recognize and write persuasive rhetoric.
You will create an annotated bibliography which will review major works on the issue you have selected. The annotated bibliography will contain six-eight annotations. The purpose of each annotation (one per source) will be to both summarize the source (what does the source say?) and evaluate the source (how does this source relate to the issue you are exploring?). Overall, your annotated bibliography should inform your audience about the issue by providing multiple viewpoints and opinions regarding the issue as it relates to your discipline. In addition to your annotations, your annotated bibliograph should also include an introduction to your project.
Sources. For this project, you will need to use six-eight sources and the citation style appropriate for your discipline.
Audience. Write this for your peers in this class who may be in your same discipline. Use this project as a way to explore an issue you might encounter as a professional in your discipline. You will use the exact research from this assignment for project 4, so take the opportunity to discover as you research and write.
Format. Your project should follow the style used in your discipline. Each annotation should be between 150 and 175 words. Use the annotated bibliography examples provided in class to help you format your annotated bibliography.
