Write an essay in which you illustrate, compare and analyze the “Apprentice Approach” presented in the selections, “The Strange Death of Silas Deane,” (SDSD) “Sacco and Vanzetti” (SV) and “A View from the Bottom Rail” (VBR).
REMINDERS:
A. ILLUSTRATE
—you MUST use specific information from the Chapters to SHOW or PROVE your main points —create vivid images using textual details, so that your readers can SEE what you mean
—you MUST make specific references to the reading selections from After the Fact
B. COMPARE
—consider similarities and differences, put side by side, weigh against, judge against, measure against —more specifically… point out similarities / differences between the chapters for EACH main point —you must use 2 or more chapters for each point—you cannot compare using only one chapter !!!
C. ANALYZE
—evaluate, examine, judge, assess, study, critique, scrutinize, explore, probe, dissect…
—you MUST add YOUR thoughts or analysis in addition to using the text—for each main point
—if something is already stated or obvious in the text, it is NOT your thoughts, it is textual material or “the reading”
D. OVERALL
—your job in the body of your essay is to compare, illustrate and analyze NOT to simply explain the “apprentice approach” in each chapter—do not waste your time simply doing this
