Gardasil vaccine provides protection against a cancer-causing sexually transmitted virus- HPV- Human Papillamo Virus. HPV is rampant and can lead to cervical biopsies, cervical cryosurgery, laser excision of dysplastic cervical cells and, if untreated, cervical cancer. It has been approved by the FDA for females 9-26 years of age. Studies reveal that only 10-20% of those have actually gotten one of the series of three shots to provide immunity. Reasons include the price at $120 per shot, limited supplies and mixed feelings about a vaccination that assumes girls have sex. A major objection has been this assumption.
