Please google and read Hesiod’s myths the Theogony and Works and Days. Please plan on using both in this discussion for both Parts A and B below. You will also reference Enuma Elish and Genesis 1-3 for comparative analysis. Remember: it’s less about the “right” answer than it is about the reason behind your answer.
Part A:
Applying the Cultural Approach (please Google). Hesiod’s myths, partly because they are both Greek and partly because they are both written by the same person, tend to teach some of the same cultural values and beliefs. What are some of the deeply held beliefs of the ancient Greeks that you can identify from these texts? Use the cultural approach to discover your answer.
Part B: Applying the Comparative Approach (please Google). Compare Hesiod’s myth with the ancient Near Eastern Enuma Elish and Genesis. What are some of the differences and similarities you see in each region’s myths, and what’s significant about those differences?
