Your term paper should include information such as:
● Brief description of the case study you were assigned, morphology and general background on the organism/virus (including symptoms of the disease, treatment, prevention, complications, etc.).
For example, if you were assigned Staphylococcus aureus, you need to state what the name of the disease/condition in your case study is, other conditions caused by the organism, what the symptoms of disease are, treatment including current medications/antibiotics being used, prevention, complications, and relevant information related to the case study. (E.g. What does Methicillin resistance mean? What is the process involved in bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics?)
2. Find at least 6 scholarly sources to cite in your paper. One of the sources has to be a primary source. The sources for your paper must come from reliable publications (no Wikipedia!).
3. Primary Source Article:
FYI: Definition of Primary vs. Secondary source: https://umb.libguides.com/PrimarySources/secondary
● The article you choose should be related to the Microbiology topic you were assigned. (E.g. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus)
● Select a recent research journal article (not older than 2 years).
● The journal article should be no longer than 10 pages.
● After your title page, at least a 1/2 a page of your paper should include a summary of the journal article.
● Review articles may appear on Peer Reviewed journals but are not considered a Primary Source.
● The primary source may not be submitted with your paper as “Turnitin” will consider it plagiarism. Instead I have provided you with as Assignment labeled “Primary source” where you will upload your primary source as a PDF document.
● Plagiarism (copying from an article or other source) will be penalized by deducting from your grade whatever number is on your “Originality report” on Turnitin. E.g: If the number is 40 on your Originality report, I will deduct 40% of the total points received on your paper.
