on the data you’ve collected. Graphs can be copied off the BLS and made
through Excel’s recommended charts function. Make sure all graphs have
marked legends and the trends can be clearly understood based on color
coding.
• Graph the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate from 1948 to 2022. Explain why unemployment increases around 2008 and 2020.
• Graph the non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for age groups
16-24, 25-54, 55-64 and 65 and above since 2010. Explain why the
unemployment rate is different for different age groups.
• Graph the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Whites, Black and
African Americans, Hispanics of all racial groups, and Asians since
2010. Explain the differences in unemployment rates for different racial
and ethnic groups.
• Graph the non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for all groups
above ages 25 and over with high school degrees, only bachelor’s degrees
and with advanced degrees. Explain the differences in unemployment
levels among people of different educational levels.

data (all urban consumers, US City Average, All items) from BLS.
