Background :
Recent research documents the rise of superstar firms in the US. These firms are well-known to be more productive, charge higher mark-ups and generate more profits, thereby affecting macroeconomic outcomes like employment and productivity (Autor et al., 2019; QJE). This thesis investigates whether superstar firms are also becoming more dominant in Europe. The focus might be on concentration levels, prices, mark-ups, and so on. Finally, results should be compared to the United States.
