(Project meant for healthcare setting in nursing school)
Evidenced Based Practice (EBP) –
1. Evidence Based Practice (EBP) begins with a spirit of inquiry. Think about the medical unit you work on or health care you, or someone you know, has received from any medical facility. What do you think could be done better?
2. Compose, at least a 1000-word but no more than a 1500-word
3. Components to include in the written submission:
A. Ask a clinical question (such as “Why don’t we….” “Is it better if….”); Use the PICOT (population, intervention or interest, comparison, outcome, time) format. Not every question requires an intervention, comparison and / or a time element.
B. Find at least 1 reputable, relevant, recent (within the past 5 years) source that addresses your clinical question (Policy and Procedure, quality improvement data, clinical practice guidelines, peer-reviewed article).
C. Provide a brief explanation of how your source addresses your clinical question.
D. Critically appraise the source you have chosen:
I. Why is this a valid and reliable source?
II. What limitation(s) does this source have? Limitations are any aspect of the source that hinders the information provided (for example: sample bias, sample size, issues with methods used to collect data, limited data, time constraints, cultural bias, financial resources, access to literature).
E. What potential patient preferences and values might create a barrier to your implementing the recommended change in practice?
