This assignment will be a combination of response and exercise, totaling 500+ words. Try to apply the concepts Professor Hicks discussed in his craft video and what you learned from the chapter. What seems useful in the craft advice? Did anything surprise you? Do you have any ideas for experiences you might like to write about? Discuss the things you think the poems were doing well that you’d like to try in your own work. Did you have a favorite poem? Favorite lines?
For an exercise, try an imitation where you write you write two poems that engage with symbols such as seen in Dillard’s work. Then try an imitation where you write your own poem using a form such as Cho or Smith.
