Write a general proposal outlining the subject you wish to research and the details of what you plan to do. The proposal should include both a detailed narrative about the topic AND a general outline of the topic you want to write about and how you plan to organize the paper. The topic should be about an area of interest from the field of Information Science. It can be about the history of information science, information science related technologies (systems), people who made important contributions to the field, information society, important areas (information retrieval, data mining, knowledge management, academic literature, medical literature, governmental literature), or any other subject of interest from the many readings. The paper SHOULD NOT be about information science careers, jobs, or professions. This will be the topic of Major Paper #2. I want to avoid that at all costs. use the information on outlines linked as a reference for the formatting of the proposal.
