Students will select a book from the list below. The review paper should be 1000-1200 words. The title, author, and year published should be included at the top of your review. (HEADING) Each paper should have the following information: 1) Each review must provide an overview of the text. 2) Rationale for its selection. This is not just a summary of the book, but rather a critical in-depth analysis of the information provided in the text and its pros and cons and future suggestions.
**The questions must be addressed in your review**
· What is the main argument of the book? If the author wanted you to get one idea from the book, what would it be? How does it compare or contrast to the world you know? What has the book accomplished?
· What exactly is the subject or topic of the book? Does the author cover the subject adequately? How qualified is the author to speak on this subject? Does the author cover all aspects of the subject in a balanced fashion? Is the information up to date? What issues were not discussed? What is the approach to the subject (topical, analytical, chronological, descriptive)?
· How does the author support his or her argument? What evidence does she use to prove her point? Do you find that evidence convincing? Why or why not? What were some of the sources used to support their argument? Does any of the author’s information (or conclusions) conflict with the course textbook, other courses you’ve taken or information shared from guest lecturers?
· How does the author structure his or her argument? What are the parts that make up the whole? Does the argument make sense? Does it persuade you? Why or why not?
· How has this book helped you understand the subject? Would you recommend the book to your reader? Who is this book best suited for?
