Background: Sprocket Central Pty Ltd has given us a new list of 1000 potential customers with their demographics and attributes. However, these customers do not have prior transaction history with the organisation. The marketing team at Sprocket Central Pty Ltd is sure that, if correctly analysed, the data would reveal useful customer insights which could help optimise resource allocation for targeted marketing. Hence, improve performance by focusing on high value customers.
Task: Submit an Excel ‘file’ showing in separate sheets: (A) Data Quality Assessment using the KPMH framework, (B) Business Process Modelling using Visio, (C) UML Class diagram using Access, and (iv) questions to ask the data (the four “Vs”). Please show a capture of Visio and Access for Part B and C.
Using the existing 3 datasets (Customer demographic, customer address and transactions) as a labelled dataset, please recommend which of these 1000 new customers should be targeted to drive the most value for the organisation. Before you can do the analysis, however, you need to Master the Data
Part A: Master the Data
Looking at the data sets identify the data quality issues and strategies to mitigate these issues. Refer to ‘the Data Quality Framework Table’ on the KPMG Forage site for criteria and dimensions which you should consider. Highlight the cells/ rows in the data that show data quality issues and write up a table using the data quality framework and specify the errors you found for each category.
Part B: Business Process Modelling ( find BPMN 2.0 symbols here)
Business Sales Activity model designed in Microsoft Visio which shows the sales and collection process of the client. For context, Sprocket Central Pty Ltd is a long-standing KPMG client whom specializes in high-quality bikes and accessible cycling accessories to riders. Also, list and describe two general controls and two application controls for Sprocket for their revenue cycle. You will have to use your creativity a bit to design a business process, but you can use the BPMN model on pages 135- 139 in the textbook for guidance. Take a screenshot of your Visio BPMN model and include in your Excel file.
Part C: UML Diagram and Database Design
UML class model for relational database planning designed in Microsoft Access which shows the link between the tables “transactions”, “customer demographics” and “customer address”. Please include the class, attributes, associations, primary and foreign keys. Use page 148-149 in the textbook for guidance. Use page 148-149 in the textbook for guidance.
Take a screenshot of you Access database relationship output and include in your Excel file.
Part D: Ask the question (The 4 “Vs”).
Use the framework of the four “V’s” of data (variety, velocity, veracity and volume) and prepare a draft an email to the client identifying the data quality issues and strategies to mitigate these issues. Ask two questions for each “V”. Look at the case study from week 5 for guidance on what questions to ask the data.
