In this part of the course, you have learned about scholarly writing and how to write a paper. For
this assignment, you are expected to demonstrate your scholarly writing ability as you reflect on
and analyze your own key reason(s) for entering nursing.
Consider the following questions to help inform your writing.
Why did you enter the nursing program? Why do you want to become a nurse? How does your
reason(s) relate to the nursing profession? How does the literature support these reason(s)?
Although you will be reflecting on your reason(s), you should also analyze this reason(s). For
example, when you identify one or two reasons, ask yourself why these reason(s)? Why are these
reason(s) important to you?

Explains how these reason(s) relate to the nursing profession.
Integrates the literature to support your analysis.
Capacity for originality, creativity, and critical thinking
Synthesis of ideas by using at least 2 peer-reviewed and current journal articles that supports your analysis
(within the last 10 years)
Ideas are organized and presented logically and fluently
2-4 topic sentences (summarizing main idea) for each of the 2-4 body paragraphs
Topic sentences focus on a single and distinct idea that relates to your purpose statement

Used 7th edition APA Publication Manual to guide writing including but not limited to: page numbers,
margins, double spacing, in-text citing, reference page, grammar, spelling, sentence structure, scholarly
writing, 12 point Times New Roman font.
2 page maximum, anything over 2 pages will not be read.
