As a sociologist, evaluate and discuss the stereotypes of two ETHNIC or RACIAL groups in the U.S. (Irish, Mexican, Haitian, Chinese, Egyptian, African American, etc.) as well as, the effects stereotyping has on group members. Be sure to identify if you are examining a racial or ethnic group and specifically mention the group by name. Use any resources from the mass media that demonstrate the stereotypes you are discussing (internet memes, TV shows/movies, newspaper/magazine articles, song lyrics/videos, popular fictional books, etc.) . Give specific details of the media’s portrayal (give the name of the source {TV show, movie, news channel segment, newspaper article} and describe the stereotype being portrayed (what did you see/read/hear from the media?). Then discuss the consequences for the group being stereotyped in the real world. Finally find current journal articles (2) that support or debunks the stereotypes you found, and share the results in summary (does scholarly research find that the stereotypes themselves are true or false?).
Be sure to underline your application of sociological terms/concepts (minimum of 6 applications). Provide citations and references where needed.
