Not All Control Is Coercion
M. Sidman describes the 3 contingencies that can be responsible for behavior control. One of them he describes as non-coercive (positive reinforcement) and the remainder as coercive (negative reinforcement and punishment).
As we come into practice in this particular field, positive reinforcement is fundamental and used frequently as an effective method to change behavior. Can you provide an example in which you fall into using what the author, M. Sidman calls coercion to change behavior, when you are out of work? Do you find yourself using the coercive methods more than the non-coercive to increase or decrease behavior?
