Write a detailed proposal for a final thesis that is 40–60 pages long. Central Topics for this thesis: Comparison of Plato’s notion of education and gender relation with Mary Wollstonecraft’s notion of education and gender relation in an envisioned society. Please include 1. potential thesis and 2. methodology. You can look into Plato’s Republic or the Symposium, and Wollstonecraft’s A vindication of the rights of woman or their relevant research. But the point is to compare the two philosopher’s political ideas on education/gender relation and Canada’s constitution or current legal issue. The proposal must include: 1. what is my question? Is it functional? Can it be answered? 2. what is my thesis? What sort of causal relationship does it posit? 3. what is my plan going forward? Do I recognize and/or can I prioritize next steps? Please be sure to consult both McNabb’s chapters on Research Fundamentals (ch 1) and Preparing a Research Proposal (ch 2). The latter is aimed much more at proposals for funding, or Master’s or PhD theses. Your document will not be as comprehensive. Focus on the tips for stating the problem (p 60), Objectives (p 62), and methodology (p 62).
