Step 1: Define or state the research problem
Step 2: Justify an interdisciplinary approach
That is, refine your topic so that it’s a problem you can state without jargon or bias (disciplinary or personal). After that, justify
using an ID approach by explaining the problem’s complexity, its practical importance, and the need for multiple disciplines’ insights into the problem.
Chapter 3 in our course text provides all the information you need to successfully accomplish both these tasks.
Please note,
stating your research question in a clear, concise way that’s appropriate for the ID process and for the Term Paper you’ll write in this class is the toughest part of this submission and is one of the most challenging aspects of the whole ID process. Remember, your paper must actually answer the question you pose.
Your submission should consist of an essay that is approximately 500 words in length. Create a References List for any sources you cite. Earn full credit by fully addressing both of the first two steps of the ID Research Process, writing well, and meeting the workshop’s length requirements.
