A new sense of history writing
Along with the worlds spatial dimension came a new sense of history writing
which reaffirms differences between:
– the subject which writes and
– the object which is historicized.
History as a modern discipline was constructed as a blank slate upon which
-the One (the new European nation-state) writes, imposes it own memory on
and over the Other (the object of difference) the Other is thereby obscured,
made invisible, repressed, denied the right to know history for herself, and
forced to accept the conquerors story as the only version valid to qualify as
History.
