Think about a time at work when you encountered an ethical dilemma. (e.g. a client for a ride home). Recall how you dealt with the issue. Also, recall how you felt about the situation and your actions. Next, review the Code of ethics. Consider how the code of ethics applies to the situation.
For this week’s “ethical dilemma”. If you do not have experience in the field of social work this is totally “okay”. Simply think of an ‘ethical dilemma’ from your own personal life, i.e., family, friends, work environment, volunteer experience OR you can create a hypothetical scenario a social service worker may face.
Step 2
Prepare an initial response. In your response, you should:
Briefly outline the ethical dilemma be sure not to include details that could easily identify an individual.
Outline how you believe the Code of Ethics applies to the situation
Describe how you dealt with the situation and note if you would handle the situation differently now (and why or why not)
