1. Be creative, and achieve a good balance between generalizations and specific examples.
2. Be sure to structure your essay in terms of a broad argument which you then support with subarguments buttressed by specific examples from the course materials. Each paragraph–and in fact each sentence–should advance your overall argument.
3.Essay will be based on accuracy, the strength of your narrative and argument (this includes coherence and ability to synthesize information and ideas), how well you use the course materials, the extent to which you demonstrate masterful understandings of how exactly colonialism has been unfolding and continues to unfold in what is now the US, and creativity.
