ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
When we learn historical content, we know how past events shape current situations and issues. As we are more grounded in a global historical context, we strengthen our critical thinking so we can respond to current challenges with creativity, clarity, and nuance. Tracing the development of civilizations from ancient, medieval, and early modern times provides a firm foundation for understanding the scope of world history and for applying critical insights to new contexts.
The community benefits when its citizens have a broad foundation in world history. It allows the community to have engaged and informed discussions on historical events, as well as how those events continue to impact modern-day. Educators benefit their schools and districts in their ability to effectively and correctly teach world history, as well as discuss the impact that history has on a modern-day.
You will complete three historical presentations in order to trace the developmental arc of world history. The projects allow you to explore world civilizations through the incorporation of elements such as maps, artifacts, and cultural artwork into a visually appealing and informative presentation. The three presentations cover:
Ancient Civilizations
Medieval and Early Modern Civilizations
Early Modernism in the West
NOTE: Once you complete all three presentations, you will share them with your peers in a discussion forum later in the term where you will comment on each other’s work.
