One of the primary concerns that is often overlooked in screening and assessment is the role of culture–race, social class, sex and gender, immigrant status, sexual identity, etc.
Having thought critically about the screening and assessment tools, and based on the readings, identify at least three specific ways in which culture may interfere with the screening process.
Identify one problematic screening or assessment tool that overlooks the role of culture. Explain why it is problematic.
Identify one really strong screening or assessment tool from the perspective of cultural responsivity. Explain why it is strong, using examples. (Just because it says “Screening tool for women”, it may not be a good instrument)
