Purpose: In this Assignment, we will practice writing a strong thesis statement.
Instructions: 1. Please view videos 1.5.1, 1.5.2
2. Begin to brainstorm a very strong thesis statement for your essay on either “The Road Home” or “To Live.” You could also compare these two films.
3. Go back and watch the videos again and revise your thesis statement.
4. Begin to write. Here is what you need to do: 1) Briefly introduce the film you will write about (1-3 lines). 2) Talk about the critical reception of this film (optional). 3) Respond to critics’ opinions (optional). 4) State your thesis. 5) Talk about how you will prove your thesis below. Note: you are writing a paragraph here, not a full-length paper of the film(s).
5. Proofread your paragraph and submit.
Length: 150-300 words, (You will write one or two paragraphs, not an entire essay. )
