While the United States has a history of using a “two-party system” in its politics, the two major parties have not always been the same two that we have today. In addition, minor parties (what we call “third parties”) have sometimes played important roles in our politics and in our elections. Are the Democrat and Republican parties currently meeting the needs of the American people, or is it time for a change? What should that change look like and would it be better or worse than the current system?
