Locate three sources that discuss the kinds of writing done in your potential future profession. Two sources will be secondary sources. The third source may be a primary (interview) source or an additional secondary source. You will use the three sources to inquire about and to compose an analysis of the kinds of writing done in your potential future profession.
The secondary sources should discuss how to write in your field/potential future profession. The secondary sources can be any type of source — for example, articles from scholarly journals, articles on popular websites, books, podcast or YouTube interviews, etc. Your goal is to find secondary sources from experts in your field who specifically discuss the types of writing done in your field.
If you choose to incorporate a primary source, meaning an interview you conduct with an expert/professional in your field, you will want to consider the following in your interview: the types of writing they do, the audience for their writing, and the purpose their writing serve in their daily work. More than likely, your interviewee will do multiple types of writing including more formal writing, as well as notes, emails, to-do lists, etc., so make sure to talk about the different types of writing they do.
Your overall goal for this project is to complete a well-rounded analysis of writing in your field using the three sources you locate.
Audience. Write this for your peers in this class who may be in your same discipline.
Format. Your project should be typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, in Times New Roman, 12-point font, and in proper MLA formatting. Your polished draft should be 3-4 full, double-spaced pages plus a Works Cited page.
