In Chapter 3 (hedonism) page 51 the text author says “If we take hedonism to be the instruction to seek pleasure and enjoyment, we can see that this is not the simple injunction we might have proposed.” What does he mean by that? Can you identify even more ways that the “instruction to seek pleasure and enjoyment” might not be as simple as it appears at first blush?
In the text Chapter 4 on page 66, while discussing Naturalism and Virtue Theory, the author asks “is the good for man” good? What does he mean by this and do you think “the good for man” is always good? Why or why not.
Include discussion about whether you perceive these theories would be helpful in making good criminal justice decisions? Why or why not?
