Explain why In recent years there has been a proliferation of content creators and a boom for the industry by having a distribution process such as OTT networks. When people speak of the golden age of TV, they are not referring to network television but streaming services like Netflix (Pittman & Sheehan, 2015). As more video streaming services release content, it will become challenging for individuals to access all that content by being subscribed to just one or two streaming services. This fragmented distribution system makes the content harder to find and share in our cultural society (Bielby & Harrington, 2008). However, in the end, the viewers ultimately lose because all their favorite shows are only on that platform. They would have to subscribe to multiple streaming services to get the content they want or even be aware of the existence of that content.
This study aims to understand how people watch video content on OTT networks, what types of content they usually watch, where they are watching that content, and ultimately how they share that content with society.
In this 25-page paper, written in 7th edition APA format, the student will review the current literature on Over-the-Top (OTT) Networks. The Literature Review must include 35 scholarly journal articles and/or other credible sources published in the last five years. The Literature Review is to be consistent with merging communication theory. This literature review of the existing literature on the research topic should include background literature, current ongoing research, and opportunities or gaps in the existing body of literature. The review must concisely and cohesively connect the body of literature on the research topic. Of the references, 95 percent should be primary sources, such as peer-reviewed journal articles and academic books (not textbooks).
This literature review will be part of a more extensive case study.
