As I understand I need to explain why I wish to join a PM&R residency and describe my attributes.
Here is some information about me that I would like to be molded into a nicely structured statement
Born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico.
Became enamored by the US after spending 4 summers in military summer camps, where I learned the values of honesty, organization, and leadership.
Unfortunately rising crime and poor working conditions for health personnel in Mexico made me look for other countries, and I decided to attempt to work at the best of them all, USA.
I studied medicine with the simple idea of wanting to help people. During my first clinical rotation in rheumatology I was aghast at the suffering of the patients and the lack of resources in the public mexican healthcare system, but It is also where I first noticed many of those patients being sent off to rehabilitation.
It struck me as branch of medicine that truly follows-up on the progress to recovery of patients, and I immediately became intrigued by it.
There was no rehabilitation or physical medicine rotation on my program, so I resorted to shadowing a physiotherapist; seeing the air of optimism and hope from his patients made me decide that I wanted to be a part of it.
I nearly renounced medicine to study physiotherapy but I was talked out of it by family.
Regarding why I would be a good choice for your residency.
