Discuss how being opened minded may both help or potentially hinder the process of intelligence analysis.
Here are two examples of how the discussion should look like. Please be aware that the examples are other peoples work. Im sending them to you so that you can have an idea how to write the discussion. Being open-minded may help the process of intelligence analysis in many ways, but it may not hinder the process of intelligence analysis to a great extent. An open-minded person is imaginative and a creative-analyst, and intelligence analysis requires imaginative minds and creative minds. A person with fixed ideas and fixed mind set may not think beyond the box, and therefore his intelligence analysis process will be hindered. He will not be able to see beyond his own perspectives, or accept the perspectives of others and may often have to face conflicts. On the other hand, an open-minded person will be eager and curious to know things beyond his boundary limits. He will also have a positive attitude towards life and believe in changes. He will respect the perspectives given by others, and also be assertive enough to put forth his point in a public or private situation. Open mindedness brings with it an attitude of questioning, understanding , analyzing and bringing in new ideas, which are an integral part of process of intelligence analysis. Open-minded person will not seek out ways to escape situations, but will be rather prepared to face all kinds of situations because his open-mindedness will take him beyond every boundary of intellectual analysis. He may not look down upon others, or have fixed pride that may again cause a person to be authoritarian about his values, which will be again an hindrance. Open-mindedness does not mean to display oneself as a proud person who could understand every other living being and beyond. Open mindedness should not mean that one can put other race, culture and religion down . Religion is the most essential connection with open mindedness. A person will be free to experiment as much as he or she wants, and keep enhancing and developing intellectual skills to learn more just because of the quality of open-mindedness.
Being open minded can potentially help and hinder any investigation. Sometimes in cases evidence is sometimes hard to understand and having an open mind can help. In certain crimes thinking outside the box can be of use in regards to catching criminals who are educated. Some criminals are advanced and skilled at what they do sadly, being able to operate outside of the box as these criminals do could be a huge factor is catching them or preventing them from even doing the criminal act. In contrast to this being open minded could have you over thinking an obvious statement or piece of evidence. Thinking too broadly in intelligence analysis could eventually have you lost during an investigation. During this process of overthinking, simple plain sight evidence is overlooked and a potential clue could be ignored. This is where the intelligence part of analysis kicks in because in this field you have to know when to have an open mind and when too close it. Distiquishing the two is a part of the breakdown of intelligence analysis. This topic can even be used in the field as well, being open minded in the world as regards to intelligence analysis. There are indeed protocols that we have to follow and an open minded person might operate out of the investigation protocols to find out the answers on a case. When investigators operate outside of protocols, it leaves room for the criminal to escape sky free. Not having a proper investigation is the leading reason for criminals to plea innocent in the face of the court. In contrast to this, following the protocols on investigation could hinder a criminal from being found. Having an open mind and being prepared for a change could potentially aide to finding the criminal, but it could also cost you a job.
