For this assignment, you will choose one of the essays assigned in Weeks 2 or 3. You must use one of these essays to analyze. Your analysis should state how effective the essay you read is and why. The analysis should contain several reasons that you have made your claim about the effectiveness of the essay. Do not simply summarize the essay that you read. Your task for this assignment is to determine its effectiveness or lack of effectiveness and why you believe this. Before you write your analysis, be sure to read the Course Materials in Week 2 about Critical Analyses and the required reading in your text, Critical Thinking, Reading, and Writing. REQUIREMENTS: 1. 600 – 750 words 2. Correct MLA formatting 3. Do NOT use outside sources. This analysis should be your own thoughts and ideas about the essay you read, not those of another writer. 4. Cite page numbers of any direct quotes you use in your analysis. 5. A strong thesis statement. 6. Correct essay format. See the outline posted in Course Materials for Module 1 and the sample paper in The Bedford Handbook. 7. Use formal academic writing. This means that you should not use first person pronouns (I, me, my, we, us, etc.) or second person pronouns (you, your, yours).
