The attachment in the link is an EXAMPLE PAPER. Please do not copy it in any way, it’s just so you know my professor’s standards
PAPER TWO should be a literary analysis based on one of the elements of fiction, or it should be a research paper that uses one of the stories to springboard into a cultural or social topic. The literary analysis paper REQUIRES OUTSIDE research, AND you should include quotes from the original story (YOU SHOULD INCLUDE AT LEAST THREE OUTSIDE SOURCES—DO NO USE WIKIPEDIA). This paper should be at least THREE pages long.
You are free to come up with your own topic or thesis, but you should clear it with the instructor first by attaching a copy in the PAPER TWO THESIS AND PLAN OF DEVELOPMENT Assignment submission folder found under the Assignments tab.
BE SURE YOU HAVE READ CHAPTER 14 ON PAGE 654 BEFORE YOU BEGIN WRITING.
BELOW ARE SOME TOPIC SUGGESTIONS:
Discuss the use of irony in “Gift of the Magi.”
Research how Christmas was transformed from a religious observance to a commercial holiday.
Research the era of political correctness and make comparisons to the theme of “Harrison Bergeon.”
Research the origins of the “woke” movement and do an analysis of how the word has been altered to mean something negative.
Research the use or sweatshops by U.S. corporations and make comparisons to “The Ones Who Walk Away from the Omelas.”
Analyze the theme of blind allegiance to tradition in “The Lottery.”
Research a tradition and show how most who participate in this ritual are like the villagers of “The Lottery,”—unaware.
Write an analysis of the style and tone of “A Clean, Well-Lighted Place.”
How does Faulkner use regionalism in “Barn Burning” to enhance the story?
How does point of view enhance the story in “The Open Boat?”
Discuss the use of symbolism in “The Chrysanthemums.”
