Students will choose ten significant works of American art to include in a virtual exhibit. These works of art, which should come from a variety of media and a variety of historical eras, should interact with a theme. (US Military History). Students should explain the theme for their piece and then analyze each work of art to show how it fits within the theme. Themes can vary widely, but they must interact with some aspect of American history. Some research will be required to learn about the work of art, the artist, and the historical context of the piece. If this exhibit is turned in prior to the last week of the study, the student will have the chance to revise and resubmit. The exhibit must include an accounting of the historical context of each work of art. Failure to adequately address that historical context will result in a significant lowering of the grade. The exhibit must also include a bibliography or works cited along with appropriate in-text citations.
