EXAMPLE: American (U.S.) society is largely time-oriented. We care about appointments and reservations. When a friend of mine visited from Spain, she asked me to schedule a hair appointment for her for 9:30AM. At 9AM, I told her we needed to leave to make it to the appointment on time. She disregarded my prompting, saying it would be okay. This led to communication conflict, because she did not understand the importance of making the appointment on time. In Denia, Spain, where she lives, it is okay if you arrive within a 30 minute window of your appointment time.
