In this module we learned a lot about the rise of powerful families during the early Italian Renaissance in Florence, especially the Medicis. Please discuss your impressions on the connections between art, power, and politics in the period. Did anything seem surprising? Discuss the propaganda aspect of art, and the Medicis wanting to become more visible and powerful through art – how and why does this undermine the value of the art produced in any way?
