Demonstrate understanding of Recreational Therapy facilitation techniques, students will choose one Facilitation Technique to provide context and education to the class via the modalities explored within this course. The idea is for you to teach your classmates about the particular Facilitation Technique that you have researched. Through providing understanding to others of various modalities, adaptations and theoretical foundations, you will be able to gain an idea on what it takes to be a great facilitator. Procedure: Video length should be 15 minutes (points will be deducted if timeframe is not met). Presentation should include: 1.Introduction and definition of the Recreational Therapy Facilitation Technique (2 min) 2.History, description and purpose of the facilitation technique (3 min) 3.Theoretical Foundations of the Facilitation Technique (2 min) 4.Explanation of the Effectiveness of the intervention for at least 3 different populations (mention research that demonstrates appropriateness of intervention for the 3 populations) (3 min) 5.Implementation exercises (5 min): for this part you have to select 1 activity and demonstrate how to plan and implement it to a specific population (choose one disability). You have to complete this part by showing how to lead the activity. Be creative. You are also required to mention adaptations for the disability selected. The main purpose is for you to demonstrate that you know how to lead the activity and how to provide adaptations for the disability selected. Assignment Breakdown: Create a video presentation on a selected modality within this course and present the following components in 15 minutes: Introduction to yourself and the facilitation technique Description of the facilitation technique Purpose of the facilitation technique History of the facilitation technique Theoretical Foundation of the facilitation technique Effectiveness of the facilitation technique amongst three populations/ disabling conditions Population 1 (Provide evidence-based research on the appropriateness and benefit of this facilitation technique with this population/ disabling condition) Population 2 (Provide evidence-based research on the appropriateness and benefit of this facilitation technique with this population/ disabling condition) Population 3 (Provide evidence-based research on the appropriateness and benefit of this facilitation technique with this population/ disabling condition) Implementation Exercise of the Facilitation Technique Show how to lead the activity (mention how you would utilize friends or family to complete this task. Think and conduct yourself like a recreational therapist during this portion of the project and be creative) Mention adaptation for the populations/ disabling condition selected
