Choose two compositions, either from the same composer or different composers, and develop an argument about them while comparing and contrasting musical elements present in each work. Using terms from your readings and the lectures, show how musical characteristics such as genre, styles, rhythms, harmonies, texts/lyrics, textures (i.e. how tempo, melody, and harmony work together), cultural/social aspects are utilized in each and examine/discuss how the musical period in which each work was written may have contributed to and/or was impacted by each musical composition.
