Perform the following steps: Pick a topic or broad question you will be interviewing about Create an interview protocol (list of questions ordered in such a way as to get the best response) Schedule 30 minutes with each respondent; interview each person, recording their answers as best you can Compare and contrast each interview. Did both respondents react in the same way to each question? Explain. Did you have to explain any of your questions? If yes, how could this impact the ability to analyze results across a large number of interviews? Did you ask follow-up questions? Were they the same follow-up questions for each interview? If not, how did they differ? How could this impact the generalizability of your results? Now watch a professional interviewer conduct an interview. This can be accomplished in a number of ways (e.g., watching an interview television show, searching for an interview on YouTube, etc.). Compare and contrast their approach to the interview to yours. Also discuss the nature of the interview and how that could impact the results–for example, if the interview was hostile, or politically-charged, or friendly, how could this impact the interviewing process as well as the analyzing of the data?
