This week you will compile your findings from the reports and data you have been collecting.Assignment 5 due Week 8 – Behavioral Intervention Plan (5-6 page essay). A copy of all your observation notes should also be submitted at this time.Your plan, to be provided in essay format, should include the sections described below. Essay rationales should rely heavily on observation notes (including observation of strategies, testing of hypotheses), but also reference information gained from interviews, records and assessments, and literature review. Your BIP should be consistent with and guided by the information provided in your FBA.Identify in succinct terms the behavior you are targeting for change. Summarize the characteristics of that behavior (frequency and timing, forms of manifestation, apparent triggers).In observable and measurable form, describe the replacement behavior that is the goal of your BIP. Include a rationale for the replacement behavior you have set as a goal. (Your behavioral goal should be based on what would be achievable/measurable within one school year.) Finally, provide a brief rationale for the choices you have made in this section. (CEC 2.2).Describe how you will teach the replacement behavior and under what conditions. Under what stimulus conditions will you teach and what type of instructional prompt or strategy will be used? How will you reinforce the new replacement behavior when the student demonstrates it? (CEC 2.2)Include in your plan a description of positive environmental supports or modifications that you are putting in place. You may describe visual strategies, modifications to the classroom, instructional setting, or curriculum that help signal to the student to display the appropriate behavior. Provide a rationale for your choices and describe how the environmental supports or modifications help to prevent inappropriate behavior. (CEC 2.1)Describe how your plan will involve or require collaboration with the child’s educational team (e.g. parents, other teachers, paraprofessionals, specialists). What formal or informal reinforcers or systems will you use?Conversely, despite your best efforts, the inappropriate behavior may still occur.
