]=Part 1: Begin this activity by completing the following readings:
Archer, A Survey of Old Testament Introduction, chapter 16
Hoffmeier, Do Historical Matters Matter to Faith? (Links to an external site.), chapters 4, 11
As you read and watch, be sure to take notes, highlight important passages, and write down questions that arise as you think through the author’s key points.
Part 2: Once you have completed the readings, write and submit a reading digest of the assigned reading, summarizing the key points of the readings and offering critique and reflection on what has been learned. Your digest should be succinct, specific and substantive; no fluff or generalization will be accepted. In your summary, be sure to:
Identify at least 3 primary points or conclusions that the authors make.
Summarize the evidence or argument that the authors make to support them.
Provide an evaluation and reaction to the reading. How persuasive are the authors? What extra information do you wish they included? Were their arguments coherent, logical, and well-supported? If not, what weaknesses do you see in their points? How have you been prompted to think in new ways?
