Option 1: Temperament
Consider your reading material on temperament traits and their role in development. Temperament affects all we do, from our thinking to social interactions and emotional processes. Go to the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation website and take the temperament quiz (IT3). Read and follow the directions for the IT3 quiz. This quiz is designed for parents to answer questions about themselves and their infant or toddler. If you are not a parent, you can answer the questions about you as an infant/toddler being raised by your parents (answer from the perspective of your parents). Select only the infant OR toddler tool to explore. At the end of the quiz, write down the outcome information or save it in another format.
In your Initial Post, answer the following questions:
What did your results indicate after taking the quiz?
What did you learn from the results about “goodness of fit?”
Which of the original nine (9) temperament traits from the New York Longitudinal Study might you have to work on to achieve a better fit with your own or another child’s temperament traits? Be specific in which trait you would work on to better “fit” with a child. For example, if I have a strong intensity of reaction and my child presents this trait in a similar fashion, how would I adjust my intensity of the reaction to better help my child when he gets upset easily?
End with a critical thinking question for your classmates.
