1. What similarities and differences do you see in the experiences and dynamics facing members from various religious traditions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam) throughout American religious history? Why do those stand out for you?
2. What is a “cult?” Are the People’s Temple, Branch Davidians, and Heaven’s Gate comparable communities? Why or why not? Are there other communities that we have covered in the course that might also fit or challenge the category? Why?
