Find (online) newspaper articles that deal with the various components of the criminal justice system and discuss the articles in relation to course materials.
You will need to find a minimum of 10 newspaper articles that deal with issues within the various parts of the criminal justice system (police, courts, or corrections). The articles should all cover different stories.
The main purpose of this assignment is to identify and discuss specific aspects of the course materials that are covered or demonstrated in news articles and how the newspapers cover issues discussed in this course. For example, you may choose an article on a story involving police that demonstrates one of the police roles. You would then talk about the specific police role from the course materials and discuss how it is demonstrated or portrayed in the article. In your discussion you must include enough description from the course materials so that it is clear to the reader how the article relates to course materials.
You should also include critical analysis in your discussion. For example, is the content of the article consistent with what was covered in the course materials? How might the article contribute to public opinion generally on the issue/topic? Are there differences between the perception created by the title and the remainder of the article? Are there any explanations offered in the articles for the issue under study?
