The Workshop Two devotion discussed the challenges that employees face with respect to feeling like they are forced into a job which doesn’t fully engage their talents and strengths and then left there without being given opportunities to truly shine and grow. This workshop deals with that challenge as well, to some extent, because in an ideal setting, organizational training would exist to monitor, reward, and further develop employee skills. But this devotion will focus on what we can do individually to monitor our own attitudes and emotions about life generally and about work particularly. After all, the two are closely related.
In a fallen world, we are faced with the prospect of having to choose to serve either God or the enemy. If we choose the latter, we will be falling prey to bitterness and hatred, but if we choose the former, we will always have to make a constant and conscious choice to choose to align our hearts with the eternal promises of Scripture rather than what we perceive from our external circumstances. So, for instance, when we feel that our jobs aren’t what they should be, we can either sink into gloom and despair, or we can inform our discouraged hearts that so long as God is in charge (and He will always be in charge!), we must choose to operate in the joy of the Lord, with the faith that He has our best in store, and with love towards others.
