Stereotyping of women and advertising and its impact on society

The assignment instructions are given in the attached PDF and a paper example from another student. The example shows the format of the paper.
The paper example is named: Bedor & Tajima (2012) No Fat Moms

Additionally: THIS IS AN EXTENTION to a paper I have already written on the topic. My research proposal paper this assignment is based off of is titled: “Chambers_Clarissa COMN 353 Writting Assignment 2 Revision.docx” (SEE ATTACHED)

I need to have at least 5 additional pages added to what is already written, not including the title page, abstract, and references to meet the required length minimum of 11, no more than 18 pages, double spaced.

This paper must include the following items. Each item can be an independent section, or some items can be discussed together in the same section (ex. literature review, theories, and research questions, analysis & discussion, discussion & conclusion).

1. APA Title page (same as in initial paper)
2. Abstract (up to 100 words: on a separate line, also provide 3-6 key words)
3. Thesis statement (ie what your research topic is trying to answer and achieve). Concrete research questions will typically be placed after the literature review section as demonstrated in the original paper
4. Concrete research questions
5. Methods
6. Your own empirical analysis of the topic. this must involve some primary data. primary data most typically refer to various forms of advertising. In addition, various documentation about advertising, such as corporate documents, newspaper articles, historical documents, etx. can be considered primary data. This, however, does not necessarily mean you cannot use sources other than primary data for this section. This section also aims to answer the research questions. To do so, provide and analyze your findings in a thorough manner.
7. discussion
8. conclusion (can be combined with the discussion). The discussion and conclusion would typically include your summary, interpretations of your findings, implications, limitations to your research, further possibilities of your research, and so on.
9. Complete APA reference list on separate page(s). This must include all materials you used and analyzed, including the course readings if used. Course readings that are applicable to the research are attached to this instruction.
10. Tables, figures, and appendix (as needed). You are not required to attach copies of the materials used. However, the actual ads you analyzed, would be helpful to include!

The use of headings is at your discretion but highly recommended by the professor.

An important note about the literature reviews is that they are not an annotated bibliography of each source. Instead, it’s a way of integrating existing studies into telling your reader how those studies helped you develop your own study. Referring to the instructor’s example, in some cases he included one small concept for another’s research and integrated it into the literature review. You don’t have to read an entire source but extract what you need in order to support the study.
The literature is less about showing the value of other research and is more about showing that your research has value. (proof that your research is worth reading)

Finding “models” for your own literature review is part of the assignment. One way to do so is to learn from other published scholarly research work. Most of them have some sort of “review” section prior to the methods and analysis sections.

In addition to those scholarly materials, you could use non-scholarly materials (newspaper articles, or magazines to provide contextual backgrounds, such as history of your case. However, they will not count for the scholarly material requirement above. (at least 15 scholarly sources required total, INCLUDING what has already been used.)

Think about and focus on what scholarly research can provide for your own research. That is, you do not necessarily critique the whole article and argument of each work; rather find a focal point or two of your own from each article. It may not be the articles central argument, but you can find something useful from each work. Scholary articles can provide:
– background of your topic
– historical background
– contemporary contextual background
– theories
– conceptualization
– trends in research on the topic
– history of scholarly discussion of the topic
– conflicting debates over the topic
– variables
– methods
– data
– references/ bibliography
