Choose one of the following topics and write a paper of at least 1000 words on your chosen
subject. Use your textbook ( Medical Law and Ethics, 6th Edition; BF Fremgen; Pearson, 2019) and at least two additional resources from the online library.
• Stem cell research
• DNA testing (for example, to determine if one has the breast cancer gene)
• Physician Assisted Suicide
Structure your paper as follows:
1. Intro paragraph
• Introduce the topic your chose and discuss how/why the subject of your topic is done.
• State your thesis (main idea) and identify the main points that you will cover in the body of
your paper.
2. Body paragraphs
• What are the legal and ethical issues related to your topic (be sure to identify specific
ethical codes and laws that might apply here)?
• What are the arguments for and against implementation of this topic?
• What is your personal point of view on this topic? Are you for it or against it? Explain why
you feel this way.
• Explain the conscience clause and discuss how it can apply to your chosen topic.
3. Conclusion
• Restate/Reword your thesis and provide a conclusion about your main points.
4. References page
• Provide a list of references in APA format.
Content requirements:
• Content should be in your own words, with 20% or less from outside sources.
• Use in-text citations for any information from outside sources (including paraphrased
material), should include author and publication year.
• Use quotation marks to enclose any information used word-for-word.
Writing Mechanics
• Use 12 point font, double-spaced text, and indent first line of each paragraph.
• Proofread and correct all errors in capitalization, punctuation, grammar, and spelling.
• Follow APA formatting guidelines.
