What are the characteristics of Hamlet’s relationship with Ophelia. What are the most important scenes for understanding their connection? What range of emotions are there? What restraints exist on both Hamlet and Ophelia? Consider also looking at film versions, or selected scenes from different versions (many are on Youtube) to consider different ways of understanding their connection. If you will compare them to other lovers in Shakespeare’s plays, give more specific references to Othello or Romeo and Juliet to characterize the criteria of comparison better.
