I have attached the direction for your review. I also attached the two reading “pushout” for the analysis.
So far in class we have talked about the assimilative nature of education. In this module we focused specifically on Native American experiences in boarding school and beyond.
Please note: this is not a summary paper, this is an analysis. Think of the arguments presented through the readings. What is your analysis of those arguments and questions being asked? What are the implications of those arguments? If there is a problem outlined, don’t just repeat that there is a problem, think about what impact that issue will continue to create if left unchecked or how it might be resolved.
Potential themes to be explored:
What makes educational spaces safe or unsafe? Examine problems and solutions
What does data reveal about the pervasiveness of inequality is schools? For whom is this most prevalent? Why?
Explore reasons identity categories impact educational experiences. What role does public education play in facilitating social equality?
Your critical analysis paper needs to be no less than 3 no more than 5 pages, 12 pt Times New Roman, double spaced. Please include citations because you will be using direct quotes. A quick reference page at the end would be appreciated. The citations are already done for you on the syllabus!
Be sure to have read the text (Pushout), and watch either Precious Knowledge (Links to an external site.) or American Promise (Links to an external site.)).
