Universal Health Care
The United States remains the only “first-world” country lacking universal access to health care; as a result, we also enjoy some of the lowest personal income taxes in the developed world. What do you think? Ought we provide basic universal health care to all of our citizens regardless of employment or income, and what form should such a system take (Australia and France, for example, have very different implementations of “universal health care”)? Is the cost simply too high? If so, why have other countries adopted such a system, and what differentiates them from the United States? Is health something that we owe our neighbors, or is individual health an individual responsibility?
