You will be writing 3 different papers
1. Write a sample academic (research) paper
2. An additional sample of a different form of writing (not a research paper) of some manuscript from your persuasive, rhetorical, creative, technical or popular writing: and
3. On a separate sheet, a short statement of 250-500 words on your own view of yourself as a writer. The format for this statement is open to your imagination. The statement might tell the scholarship committee something about how long you have been writing, what kind of writing you like best, your work habits, your goals, your models, or any other similar information that may serve to introduce you as a writer of some promise.
